What is Fold Card?
Fold Card is a Bitcoin rewards Visa prepaid debit card that allows users to earn sats (Bitcoin's smallest unit) on everyday purchases. Founded in 2014 and relaunched in 2019 by Will Reeves and Corbin Pon, Fold has evolved from a gift card platform into a comprehensive Bitcoin financial services company. The company went public on NASDAQ in February 2025 under the ticker symbol "FLD," becoming one of the first publicly traded Bitcoin financial services companies in the United States.
Fold has distributed nearly $75 million in Bitcoin rewards to its users and maintains a Bitcoin treasury of over 1,000 BTC, ranking among the top 25 public companies by Bitcoin holdings. The Fold Card is issued by Sutton Bank, Member FDIC, providing up to $250,000 in pass-through FDIC insurance on USD balances. Bitcoin assets are custodied by BitGo with insurance coverage.
