What is Zyla?
Zyla is a cross-border payment platform operated by AUS Merchant Services, Inc., a member of Ant Group (the financial services affiliate of Alibaba). The platform serves as WorldFirst's US-market offering, providing American businesses with multi-currency accounts, marketplace collection services, and international payment capabilities.
Originally, WorldFirst was a UK-based payments company founded in London in 2004. Ant Group acquired WorldFirst for approximately $700 million in February 2019. However, due to regulatory concerns from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), WorldFirst closed its direct US operations prior to the acquisition. Zyla was subsequently established to serve US-based businesses through AUS Merchant Services, Inc., a licensed money transfer service provider (NMLS ID: 1277102).
The platform is designed specifically for e-commerce sellers, importers, exporters, and businesses that need to manage cross-border transactions efficiently. A key differentiator is Zyla's integration with Ant Group's global financial network, offering free and instant transactions to businesses within the Alipay ecosystem—including direct payment capabilities to Chinese suppliers on 1688.com and TaoWorld.
Main Features
Multi-Currency Accounts: Open local currency receiving accounts in 10+ currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, HKD, SGD, JPY, and CNH. Hold multiple currency balances simultaneously without overseas business entity requirements.
Marketplace Collections: Connect to 100+ global marketplaces such as Amazon, AliExpress, eBay, and 30+ payment gateways. Receive marketplace payouts with zero collection fees.
1688 World Pay Integration: A unique feature jointly developed with 1688.com (Alibaba's B2B platform) that allows direct CNH payments to Chinese suppliers using Zyla account balance. This is particularly valuable for e-commerce businesses sourcing products from China.
Batch Payments: Send 200+ transactions in a single batch order, streamlining supplier payments for businesses with high transaction volumes.
Ant Group Network Payments: Free and instant cross-border payments to other businesses within Ant Group's global financial network, including verified AliPay accounts.
Spot Contracts & FX Tools: Access real-time foreign exchange rates with competitive spreads on major currency pairs including CNH, HKD, JPY, and SGD.

Zyla operates on a transparent, no-subscription pricing model:

Key Capabilities
For E-commerce Sellers: Collect from 100+ marketplaces with zero fees, manage multi-currency earnings in one dashboard, and withdraw to US bank accounts with minimal costs.
For Importers & China Sourcing: The 1688 World Pay integration enables direct CNH payments to Chinese suppliers, eliminating traditional intermediary bank fees and delays.
For Cross-Border Trade: Wire payments in multiple currencies to international suppliers, access competitive FX rates, and benefit from free in-network transfers within Ant Group's ecosystem.
API Integration: Streamline mass payouts to domestic and overseas bank accounts through API connectivity.
Security & Regulation
Zyla takes security and compliance seriously with multiple safeguards:
- Licensed money transfer service provider through AUS Merchant Services, Inc.
- Registered with FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network)
- State money transmission licenses across the US (license list available on website)
- Funds held with FDIC member partner banks
- Real-time fraud monitoring, blocking, and in-portal alerts
- Secure payment processing with encryption
Geographic Availability: Zyla is currently not available in New York and Nevada, and is available only for certain business types in Virginia. The platform is exclusively for business use (not available for personal, family, or household purposes).
Who Should Use Zyla?
Ideal For:
- Amazon, eBay, and AliExpress sellers based in the US
- E-commerce businesses sourcing products from China (1688.com, TaoWorld)
- Importers needing efficient CNH payment capabilities
- Businesses selling across multiple international marketplaces
- Companies within Ant Group's ecosystem seeking free in-network transfers
- SMEs requiring multi-currency holding without overseas entities
May Not Be Suitable For:
- Businesses in New York or Nevada
- Personal/consumer money transfers
- Businesses requiring debit cards (Zyla doesn't offer debit cards for US users)
- Companies outside the e-commerce and import/export sectors
- Businesses needing full WorldFirst feature set (available outside US)
Considerations
While Zyla provides valuable services for US e-commerce sellers, there are some limitations to consider. The platform doesn't offer debit cards for US users (unlike WorldFirst's World Card available internationally). Account approval typically takes 1-2 business days, and certain business types in Virginia face restrictions.
Zyla's parent relationship with Ant Group and WorldFirst means users benefit from robust infrastructure, but the platform operates as a distinct entity for regulatory reasons. For businesses heavily focused on China trade, the 1688 World Pay integration offers genuine competitive advantage, but buyers with activated Zyla accounts currently cannot access WorldTrade features.
